Crowning Culture Concept
We have a vision to promote positive representation of diversity and better cultural literacy within our education system. Young people are growing up with poor role models based on little of understanding of cultural heritage and negative imagery and representation of people of colour. We are choosing to highlight the positivity and beauty of cultural diversity by creating high-art imagery with young people, opening up cultural conversations and engaging in empowering personal development workshops. We aspire to work with young people today to leave a more positive legacy for the future
Aims to promote cultural awareness and positive representation within the education system – celebrating the beauty in diversity and empowering cultural literacy. It offers participants a unique opportunity to engage with and develop their understanding of diverse cultures. It will inspire the exhibitors to become the focus of new afro art and leave a legacy that inspires the wider community and the next generation. The programme responds to various aspects of the national curriculum, particularly within subjects:
Promoting positive self-image, self-esteem, and respect for diversity;.
Emphasises the importance of respecting and valuing diversity within society, challenging stereotypes and promoting understanding and acceptance
Opportunities to explore the rich cultural heritage of different communities, including the significance of Afro hair in various historical contexts - understanding the historical and cultural roots of Afro hair will develop a deeper appreciation for its significance and diversity.

Programme Overview
There are four practical phases to the delivery of the programme in addition to the planning and evaluation stages. 1. Pre-exhibition workshops for a number of classes/participants to introduce the themes around afro hair (type, combs, wraps and braids etc.), engage with the history and heritage of afro hair, leading to empowering selected exhibitors to progress to the next stage.
